Registration is open for the Fairway Subaru/Folger Subaru "Black Lake Shootout," July 18-19 at the Michelin Proving Grounds in Laurens, SC. For those of you have never run at the "Black Lake," it's 1400 ft x 400 ft of perfectly smooth, flat, obstacle-free asphalt - in short, one of the best autocross sites in the southeast.
The "Black Lake Shootout" is a two-day event, jointly hosted by Central Carolinas Region SCCA and South Carolina Region SCCA. Entry fees are $55 for SCCA Members, and $75 for Non-Members (advance payment; $5 charge for on-site payment).

A big THANK YOU to all the workers and stewards who assisted SCR in hosting the 2009 Buck Muse Memorial Races last weekend (Mar 28-29). We had an excellent worker turnout, despite the wet weather. We really appreciate your support!
There are too many people to thank individually, but let me point out again the stellar work of Marcel Ciascai, our Race Chairman and the guy who brings all of this together each year. Thanks, Marcel, for another great weekend!
And again, THANK YOU to all who came and volunteered at our event.
For those that are interested, race results are available at MyLaps.com.
This weekend (April 4-5), two teams of SCR members are competing in the 24 Hours of LeMons, a nationwide series of endurance races (not sanctioned by SCCA, or anyone else, for that matter) for cars that cost $500 or less. This weekend's race will be held at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC.
Cars must cost $500 or less, not counting safety equipment, wheels, brakes, and tires, and will run the 1.1 mile West Course at CMP in three stints or 8 hours, 2 hours, and 4 hours each. Each team must have 4-6 drivers.
Last year, Mike Smith and Allen Murray put together what most of us believe is the world's worst Ford Thunderbird, and somehow managed to make it run for the entire race. This year, Mike and Allen are back, and will be joined by Joe Oliveira, Don Moody, and Aimee Fincher in the same (supposedly improved) Thunderbird.
Also hailing from SCR are Michael Jones, Charlie Fullwood, and Gary Bennett, Jr., who have put together a Saturn SC1 for this weekend's race. Josh and Mike Smith (no relation to the Thunderbird-driving Mike Smith) round out the roster for the Saturn team.
Spectator tickets for this weekend's race are $20 per day or $30 for the weekend. Children under 12 are free.
